Movement ActivisTs

Movement Activists was established as an international network of artists passionate about intersecting dance and social action under the umbrella of Gibney Dance Community Action. In 2019, Movement Activists evolved into a collaborative training program for dancers to learn tools for bringing social change to their communities. Participants will cultivate skills for listening well and sharing the value of creative expression. Workshops will explore topics on working with incarcerated individuals, survivors of domestic violence, health recovery groups and youth. One or more sessions will be led by a guest facilitator and collaborating artist.

Move free

Move Free curriculum has been developed through experiences teaching dance and creative movement in public schools throughout Chicago and New York City. Move Free aims to grow social and emotional learning skills while developing technical dance abilities. In this program, students will experience the joy of dancing while cultivating skills for creative expression, healthy relationships and regulating their emotions.
